Now, let’s pause and consider the context. In the very same city, under the same ideological umbrella, the requirement of an ID to cast a ballot in a federal election is treated as a moral failing. The narrative from the Left is consistent: requiring ID to vote is a "burdensome barrier" designed to disenfranchise minority communities. The implication: one that strikes me as deeply condescending and inherently racist: is that certain populations are simply incapable of obtaining a government-issued card.

But if requiring an ID to vote is "racist," then isn’t it also racist to require an ID to shovel snow?

If we follow the "woke" logic to its natural conclusion, these labor regulations are preventing minority communities from earning a wage during a storm. Barry Neufeld, an elected trustee in British Columbia, spent years criticizing the province’s "Sexual Orientation and Gender Identity" (SOGI) curriculum. In his posts, he called the underlying gender ideology an "absurd theory" and a "weapon of propaganda." He argued that pushing these radical ideas onto young children was tantamount to "child abuse."

For 99.999% of human history, his assertions would have been viewed as biological facts or, at the very least, standard parental concerns. In 2026, they are considered a financial death sentence.

Last week, the British Columbia Human Rights Tribunal: a body that increasingly feels like a secular inquisition: ruled that Neufeld’s statements constituted "hate speech" and "workplace discrimination" against LGBTQ teachers. The punishment? A staggering $750,000 fine.

Think about that number. This is the same government that famously "debanked" peaceful Freedom Convoy protesters, cutting off their access to their own life savings for the crime of dissent. Now, they are using the legal system to bankrupt an individual for expressing an opinion on a public curriculum.

It’s a psychological trick used to move the goalposts of what is acceptable. If they start at 36%, and the Senate "fights" them down to 15%, the taxpayer feels like they won, while the government still manages to walk away with a brand-new revenue stream that didn't exist before.
