A humiliating defeat in Iran could be the final straw: the moment the world decides that the American experiment has finally run its course.

Led by China, the nations of the world could convene a new "Bretton Woods" to formally strip the US of its power and establish a new, perhaps more authoritarian, global order.

Standing at the Precipice

So, where does that leave us?

America is on a precipice. To the one side, we have the possibility of a re-stabilized world, where the dominance of the dollar and the competence of Western technology provide another few decades of relative peace and prosperity. To the other, we have the looming specter of a shattered hegemony and the rise of a new, colder order.

It is a terrifying thing to realize that our future: the world our children will inherit: is being decided in the deserts of the Middle East and the boardrooms of defense startups. But we cannot afford to look away. We must understand the stakes. Whether this weekend’s strikes were a brilliant move to checkmate our enemies or a desperate gamble that will lead to our undoing… that remains to be seen.

But make no mistake: we will find out which way the world tilts in the coming weeks. And in the meantime, perhaps the best thing you can do: rather than building a bunker: is to ensure that your own life is in order. Because when the world outside becomes a storm of chaos, the only thing that will save you is the strength of your own character and the clarity of your own vision.
